Control Your Cash
I am on a bit of a BANDWAGON on your Success Behalf! Somebody needs to be! I am venturing to say that if you worked for anyone else in the world..... if that employer informed you that you would earn increased CASH$$$ for tasks A, B, C, you would DO A, B, and C !!! However, when working for ourselves, sometimes we get so 'reactive' (we don't work from a WEEKLY PLAN SHEET, or 6 most to do list) and creatively avoid INCOME PRODUCING ACTIVITIES (booking, coaching,Holding Classes, Trunk Shows, On the Go, interviewing) again, we get so REACTIVE, to make us feel like we are working, we spend our day letting the circumstances dictate WHAT we do. For example, we answer our phone (reactive) and answer consultant's questions:
What time does the meeting start?
What are we supposed to bring?
Where did you say it was? How do you get there?
Now what was the challenge?
My classes aren't holding (yet she missed the meeting and doesn't have VOICE TEL so missed the message that just covered your hostess program and coaching and you DON'T confront her with HER responsibility for her business education).
Do you have a #2 cleanser I can borrow? I am really ordering this weekend, I promise.
etc..............
ALL REACTIVE, nothing PROACTIVE in that! So, end of month comes, and commission check is a surprise because no strategy went into it. No planning, no time management, no challenge prevention, little leadership!! And we look to Corporate America or hourly wages as a 'real job' as more secure. How do I know?
SYMPTOM:
No Personal Recruiting 13% check.
No unit wholesale volume bonus.
Fewer than 3 unit qualified new monthly recruits.
0 personal new recruits for the month.
A declining unit size.
A declining personal team size.
Unit Size increase based on ONE Superstar working on a MOVE UP goal.
In order to work SMART, and strategize, you must understand what gives you the cash.
There are THREE places you CONTROL the cash for your commission check!
I. Your Personal Recruiting 13% check.
In order to take full advantage of this check, there are two requirements that must be met.
You must have (min. ) 5 active personal Team members place a min. 180 wh. order within the month.
You must personally place a (min.) $600 wh. order.
Both of these must become planned for, strategized and followed up on habits. It can't be 'luck' when you look at your check breakout and say..."Hey! Look at this, more than I thought... 5 ordered! It must have been 13% instead of 9%." NO, This is something you work!
As far as the personal 600...well, to order only 600 indicates that you are retailing $300 weeks. As an NSD, I hold $300 weeks!!!!!!! And that is on reorders, and they ALL call me. In fact, most of them called me out of the yellow pages. I service @ 100 customers, and a good 90% of them called me after we came to Bowling Green 7 years ago and I usually do STAR personal production on that! Quite frankly, if you aren't selling at least $500 a week as a working Sales Director, RED FLAG!
II. Your Unit Volume Bonus.
You do less than $5000 monthly unit wholesale (Remember, for 3-6+ months prior to your Directorship promotion, you did at least $4-5000+ with a third of the size every month of your qualification.)
III. Your Unit Development Bonus
Not having 3 qualified New Unit Recruits! Sometimes, there aren't even 3 new recruits, much less 3 qualified recruits. This reflects:
an absence of GROWTH goal
or an insecurity in getting Decent Initial Inventory orders
or indicates a 'low and needy' caliber of new recruit
or NO VISION for recruiting Working STAR Consultants during the recruiting process.
too much emphasis on ' personal use' consultants
If when I go across the NSD Super Scoreboard, and I find ZEROS in any of the columns:
Unit Volume Bonus
New Unit Recruits
New Personal Recruits
Personal Wholesale Order
13% (personal recruiting) check
.... I am distressed! WHY? Because you left EASY and significant money on the table.
$500(min.) LOST- for Unit Volume Bonus (under $5000 wh. unit production for the previous month = NO BONUS)
$650 (min.) LOST- for Personal Team production under $5000, under 5 personals ordering min. 180, and/or personal order under $600 wh. for the month.
$300 LOST -for not adding (min.) 3 NEW QUALIFIED Unit Members.
Now, with this $5000 unit production, I am not talking ABUNDANCE; I am not talking Director $ really, but let me tell you, when I saw that some SHAW Directors had taken home $1000, $500, $200 (and Less), I wanted to cry. Let me show you why:
$5000 Unit production (all of it your personal team as well)
$650 = 5000X13% (personal recruits, min. 5 ordering, your personal min. $600 wh. accompanying the month)
$650= 5000X 13% (unit production, privilege as a Sales Director)
$500= Unit Volume Bonus on 5000wh.
$300= Unit Development Bonus (for adding min. 3 new unit qualified recruits)

$2,100 COMMISSION check for just paying attention and working personally and doing the activities you did to qualify for where you are! YOU ARE EQUIPPED to earn your Cadillac. You know what to do. The question is, will you choose to focus in and do it?
Remember, you used to do $5000 wh. with 5, 6 people. Now you have 25, 30++ people, and $5k is a struggle??? WHY??? Lost focus, mis-spent time on tasks and consultants who are not working instead of initiating new business, growing your personal team, and vision casting to find and mentor future leaders who also want to multiply and MOVE UP! (Usually, this is our fault, because we live in denial...we want our people to WANT more than they want, and if they WANTED MORE, we could do less, so we just keep working with them in hopes that today, they'll WANT more!).
Although my message about creating wholesale months of $10,000 wh. as an acceptable LOW BALL for directors still stands, I think we need to take a look at how we are developing the thoughts we hold about success in our business. Do you think that you can inspire someone to want your position if your monthly commission check is $500 or less? Personally, I know that I felt like a hypocrite when I had made poor choices as a new director (embezzled my inventory money, made a Caddy payment to the co., didn't have a commission check to speak of...yes, I have been there), which made turning the results around, focusing on INCREASE, personally recruiting, more challenging. BUT YOU HAVE TO BITE THE BULLET, take charge, turn it around, and INCREASE!
90 days can change your Career Momentum! I am counting on you to get clear, to put in the personal effort with vision and a work ethic, disciplined efforts, working with the ABUNDANCE OUR OPPORTUNITY offers (tools such as APPLAUSE... until you have a commission check you have earned to show your prospects), but in 90 days---November, December, and January--- if you get on it, understand the commission structure and GO TO WORK, you will be inspiring your prospects with YOUR CHECK! Remember, $10k with it all your personal team, along with $500 weeks gives you $4,570!) And that will get me off of my soapbox! And I will get out of your face! (Unless you ask me to stay!!)
