Satin Snowman
A girl in the Renee Baker Unit sold about 30 of these in the past 2 weeks for $35 (that's about $1000!!!) and said she was taking orders for them right and left. She carried it with her everywhere she went and kept it in a basket in her car along with some other cute gifts. Really clever... Thank you, Tyra Newsome, for this great idea!

You will need:
Satin Hands Pampering Set
Fiber Fill (polyester foam batting - sewing/crafts store)
White Tuille (very sheer netting - Walmart is inexpensive)
Shish Ka-bob Skewers
Rubber Bands
4" Styrofoam balls
Black Permanent Marker
Chenille Pipe cleaners (orange)
Straw Hats (you will probably have to buy natural color and paint them black or Dollar Store had black felt ones)
Stick Pins (2)
Cute Christmas Ribbon (wired) or Clean, Old Colorful Sock
Small Pom-poms (I like the blue ones if I am using blue ribbon, but white ones are great too)
Craft Glue
Place the Satin Hands Pampering Set in the middle of a large square of fiber fill/batting and pull up the sides enough to make it look very full - will look like a huge cotton ball. (The fiber fill will just go around the Satin Hands set to cover the bag...it does not have to be VERY full.)
Measure out enough tuille so that you can gather it around the batting at the top of the Satin Hands set - not too tight.
Insert a shish ka-bob skewer into the hole on the top of the bag.
Gather the tuille at the top and tie it around the skewer with a rubber band.
Push the 4" Styrofoam ball down onto the skewer.
With a black marker draw the eyes and mouth.
Insert a small pipe cleaner for the nose.
Put the black hat on and use 2 stick pins to hold it in place.
Tie ribbon or sock around the "neck".
Apply three pom-poms as buttons down it's belly with craft glue.
Sell for $35. I sold a ton of them last year...could not keep Satin Hands on my shelf! - Tyra Newsome

Hi Donna,

I'm glad you like it!!  Thank you!!! It wasnt too hard to put together!  If
you read my previous post on here, the snowman head is actually an ornament
head that I found at my local hallmark store.  It went for $4.50+....I
indulged and went for it to save time on the work and materials!  So when
she gets her gift she not only has a Satin hands gift....she also has an
ornament to place on her xmas tree!  I tied it off at the bottom so when she
receives the snowman she can slip it out the bottom and stuff more batting
in to make it full again!  You can also look around in craft stores for
these heads....right now be watching shopkos or walmarts for ornament heads
hanging on trees.  Please note that since I found the head at hallmark, it
is not something that hallmark has its name on....it is from one of their
company consignments that puts gifts into their store!! And not all
hallmarks cater to the same companies...it is just what I found at MY local
hallmark here in Wisconsin. After careful scrutiny....I found a small tag on
the ornament head that read, Made in China :( Oh well..I was hoping for
american made!!
And the construction part of it....actually it was by guesswork
mostly....like trying to design your own pattern. So I proceeded with a wish
and a prayer!  I measured mostly just like the first model that was posted
initially on here and sewed the head to the top of it.  I gathered the
bottom together so that it looked nice... this will require your sewing
machine so that your gathers stay together and have a secure fit.  I stuffed
it with enough batting to make it look plump like a snowman. If she wants to
take the satin hands out....she could fit another jar into it to maintain
the shape or just fill with more batting.  If not....the head will come off
with a few snips of the scissors and the ornament can be used on the tree.
The hat and scarf were all attached to the snowman head....again, the
purchase of the head was a big time-saver for me!  The materials were all
purchased from my local walmart except the hallmark head.  I also found some
"santa" heads hanging at shopko....so this is my next project...Santa Claus!
Will try to complete before the weekend! And pictures to follow!  Also
trying to get ready for a second open house this weekend and want to get
this done in time to show it off!!!  Another thing to consider is that there
is alot of fleecy items out there if you look around at this time of the yr.
and this kind of material looks almost snowman-like!  And soft too...it
makes fora nice looking snowman!  You can add any embellishments you
want....such as a snowman broom or maybe a candy cane.
So yes, Donna you may post it on your website with my permission!
Materials:  Natural cotton batting (what you see as the snowman), or any
fleecy material, inside batting( same fluffy material that is used as the
"snow" covering for snow villages this time of yr.) the ornament head or can
make your own head if you wish, and the black pompons that adorn the front!

Good luck!!

Satin Santa
by Janet Whitehouse, Consultant in the MaryBeth White Unit

This is my Satin Hands Santa:
This Santa is a cinch to put together. It took me no time at all. I was prepared to use my sewing machine but while I was doing my holiday shopping, I happened on these cute christmas cloth bags all in red. No sewing required with these and the draw strings come in handy to pull the bag tight around the satin hands set. Now, this is where the interesting part comes in....I had an older version of the satin hands set in the clear bag and gold draw string around the top....well I took the "Santa head" ornament" ( again be looking for these santa head ornaments in the stores...I found these in Shopko), and secured the santa head in the top of the satin hands bag and pulled the gold drawstrings of the bag and tightened the head in place. Then I pulled the red santa bag up over the satin hands and used the draw strings on the red bag to secure tightly around the satin hands. I will have to think about how to reconstruct another "satin hands santa" using the newer satin hands in the zippered bags. So if you still have these older sets of satin hands still sitting on your shelves and need to move these, here is your chance!! Put one together and go get orders!! Like I said this only took me 5 min to put together! My family was amazed!! And if I can "wow" them, think about what my customers will say!!

There you have it!! I found the red cloth christmas bags at my local Walmart and found the santa head ornaments at Shopko or can be found in craft stores too!

With the day after christmas shopping, here is everyone's chance to get great discounts on all these christmas items that you can use with promoting our great MK products for next yr.!!

Good Luck!
Janet
