Set an hour or 1-1/2 hours (say 7-8 pm) one night and start dialing. Don't leave messages. If you get the answering machine, hang up and go to the next person. Talk fast and say something like, "Hi, Susie. It's Shelly with Mary Kay. Do you have a quick minute? I am having a phone-a-thon tonight for all my customers and I'm so excited I got ahold of you! Here's how it works. Whatever you order tonight, (maybe you're low on your foundation or cleanser or whatever), gets you in a special drawing. You can order as much or as little as you want - whatever you order makes you eligible for the drawing. I am only calling until 8 pm tonight. Then, I will put all the sales tickets in a hat and will draw one name (or will have my husband draw one name). That person gets to double her order for no extra charge. In another words, if you order $50 right now and I draw your ticket, you'll get $100 in Mary Kay for $50!! What a deal! So, what are you running low on? I'll hold a minute while you run to the bathroom and check. "   Once she gives you her order, do not total it! Tell her you are trying to call as many people as you can before 8 pm. At 8 pm you will do the drawing and then you will call everyone back with either the good news that they won or with their original total. That is also when you will make arrangements to deliver, etc. I also remind them they get a free gift with $30+. Talk fast, don't linger to anyone. The key is to call as many people as you can in that hour. If you get through the "M's" tonight, call the N-Z's tomorrow. Or, call everyone you missed the first time. Keep having phone-a-thons until you have called everyone on your list.
