Customer Birthdays
by Donna Bayes

I like to send my customers a "Birthday Card" during their birthday month. On the first of the month, I check my birthday file (it's easy on Boulevard software), and mail out my birthday cards. I offer my customers a 15% birthday discount.

Here's how I do it:
I tape a birthday note offering 15% discount into a beauty book and attach a colorful address label to the outside.
I use the US Post Office's colorful birthday stamps to mail.
I mail all of them at the first of the month and allow customers to use the coupon anytime during the month.

Here's a picture of my note for the inside and the label for the outside. I will attach the document files, found to the left, however the label is in Publisher 2002. Without that program, you probably can't open that document. Converting it to a pdf file won't work, as it distorts the size of the document and it won't fit properly onto the labels. Possibly you can get an idea and create something for yourself that would work in Word. Or purchase Microsoft Publisher...what a wonderful program!

The note for the inside of the beauty book. I print four to a page
in landscape and then attach one to the inside page.

This is the label I print on Avery 8164 labels that are 6 to a page and 3 1/3 in. x 4 in.
I stick it to the back of the beauty book in the address section and use a
USPO Birthday stamp for postage. I feel it is bright enough to catch
their attention to know that this is more than just a catalog.

I've used these labels for years now, and my customers look forward to their birthday month. I believe it helps with customer loyalty. You can create a birthday file by using the top page of the beauty profile and filing it in a January-December file, according to their birthday month. The back part of the profile is filed alphabetically, according to their last name.
