$75 for $35
by Donna Bayes

$75 for $35 is my favorite form of hostess credit because it is so simple. It is impressive to the hostess and potential hostesses because it gives them $75 worth of products for a cost of only $35.  In essence, they receive $40 free.  Now, that's a nice bonus for just holding a class or trunk show!

But, how can you afford it, you ask?  Amazingly, you can!  Here's how it works.

The hostess chooses $75 of Mary Kay products.  At 50%, the product cost to you is just $37.50, right?

$75 divided by 2 (50%) = $37.50

The hostess pays you $35.  Which leaves you to pay $2.50.

$37.50 - $35 = $2.50

Our hostess credit for a Mary Kay class used to be 10% of sales with no bookings, 15% with one booking, and $20% with two bookings.

In that scenario, let's take a $100 class with one booking.  The hostess would receive $15 in free product.  The cost to you would be $7.50 WS.  But, with $75 for $35, the hostess would receive $40 free, with a cost of only $2.50 to you.  Which hostess would be happier?  The one receiving $15 free or the one receiving the $40 free??

The company hostess brochure is great to use to promote this hostess credit plan.  But when you're out of them, you can use this flyer.

In my opinion, if the hostess would receive more credit (because she had a large class with bookings), with the percentages, I would use them. I want to give my hostess the most she can get.

So, if the class is over $400 in sales with no bookings, or over $200 with 2 bookings, she would actually do better with the percentages. And because Mary Kay, herself, created the 10, 15, and 20% hostess plan, you can be confident that you are not giving too much away. A happy hostess will book again and tell her friends to book.
